Description:
I'm using the Compiz Window Manager (On Linux) and it is configured to use different open/close animations for normal windows and dialog/menu windows. That's why I noticed this problem:
Forms which use BorderStyle=bsDialog and which are opened with ShowModal are of window type "Normal" but should be type "Dialog" or "ModalDialog" so the window manager can handle it properly.
This happens with GTK1 and GTK2 widget set. Lazarus itself (which is using GTK1) also behaves incorrect: Even drop down menus are of type "Normal" instead of "Menu", "PopupMenu" or "DropdownMenu". So each time I open a menu it is opened with the animation which is meant for application windows.
