When having this situation:
Program A uses unit B. Unit B links to someobject.o. (It might be the same problem if Program A links directly to someobject.o, haven't tested).
someobject.o is missing certain external functions, which are implemented in unit C. Unit B uses unit C to have these functions available. The hint "unit C not used" is given in this circumstance, because no obvious dependency on unit C is seen. Naturally, if unit C is removed, the code cannot compile.
