Description:
I have installed the OS/2 package, os2200.zip, according to the instructions given in the "readme.txt" (including setting the necessary path information in "config.sys").
When attempting to compile "\demo\text\hello.pp" compilation fails.
This is the final (and presumably important) part of the compiler messages:
Assembling hello
Searching file as.exe... found
Using assembler: as.exe
hello.pp(23) Error: Can't call the assembler, error 2 switching to external assembling
hello.pp(23) Fatal: There were 2 errors compiling module, stopping
hello.pp(23) Error: Compilation aborted
In the bugs-list a very similar problem (the same?) is listed as no. 2989. The suggestion given is that the "binutils" need to be installed. As far as I can tell there ARE no "binutils" for OS/2 (the suggestion given was for linux), but at any rate I had already chosen to install everything.
Whether or not this is relevant I don't know, but when I try to execute "as.exe" on its own with/without arguments, it merely reports "File not found BFD2E".
